Active Ageing Network

What is the Active Ageing Network (AAN)?

The Active Ageing Network is a forum aimed at people over the age of 50. It can be developed to suit the needs of the members.

What will the AAN offer?

An opportunity for people to have their say

Many older people expressed an interest in being given the opportunity to have their say and influence organisations and councils on how services are developed and delivered for them. The network aims to do this in a number of ways including:

  • inviting agencies and organisations to meetings to discuss new services
  • sharing opportunities to respond to consultations and questionnaires on services and keeping members informed
  • supporting members to attend workshops ton develop services

Link up existing forums and groups

There are many groups that meet across the County around issues and interests for people over 50. The network could help to link up these groups and provide information to members on what already exists for them to get involved in their area.

Signpost and share information

It is not possible for one organisation to know or keep of what is happening across the County. The network could act as an information sharing facility for its members, signposting activities and forums across the county.

Catalyst for starting activities

There are many existing activities. However, many members have ideas about starting a new group in their area around a specific interest ranging from friendship groups through to IT and line dancing! Whatever the activity the network aims to support the start up in areas that currently have no provision.
