Active Ageing Strategy

Northamptonshire County Council and its partners want to change the way they plan, develop and deliver services for older people in this County.

As a result we have developed "Active Ageing in Northamptonshire"; this strategy was originally called "A Better Northamptonshire for Older People"  and has now been revised to reflect the views that you expressed during the recent consultation about it.

The strategy document can be downloaded from the link below.

Active Ageing Strategy - Consultation Report

Over 900 people responded to the consultation around "A Better Northamptonshire for Older People", through questionnaires, focus groups and presentations.

  • 79% felt that it showed that Northamptonshire County Council understood older people's priorities.
  • respondents supported the people-centred approach - suggesting that it would provide a greater degree of control over the services provided for the individual
  • respondents supported the council's approach to helping people live independently
  • partners felt the document should be an overarching partnership strategy
  •   Consultation Report (pdf format 330kb)
