Our future community safety priorities are based on the County Council's priorities and the Safer Stronger Communities Local Area Agreement Outcomes.
We have identified areas where we consider the County Council has a significant contribution to make whether through direct service delivery or through enhanced coordination to improve performance in the county.
We have indicated how we will measure success and outlined some of the things we will do to achieve these. We are developing detailed action plans to deliver our priorities.
Council priorities are:
- Anti-social behaviour and fear of crime is reduced by more visible policing
- To reduce domestic abuse
Other community safety priorities for 2005-2008 are:
- To reduce drug-related crime
- To reduce alcohol related crime
- To reduce deliberate and malicious fires
- To reduce the number of children and young people entering the criminal justice system
- To reduce hate crime
- To reduce the fear of crime
- To contribute to achieving the priorities and targets set out in the seven Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategies
- To provide strategic leadership and support for the Safer and Stronger Communities Board and the Safer and Stronger element for the Local Area Agreement
Our next step is to develop detailed action plans with SMART target, aligned to the CDRPs and LAA, for each of our community safety priorities. Where key actions have already been identified we have indicated these in the table below. In addition, in the absence of detailed action plans and targets we have highlighted some measures of success.
