The Community Safety Team is based in Sustainable Communities within Community Leadership. It provides council services and Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership representatives with strategic support and guidance in accordance with our statutory responsibilities under section 17 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.
The team engages with the seven Crime and Disorder Partnerships both directly and through the service areas to deliver the crime and disorder strategies.
A key task for the team is working with departments to integrate their community safety work into their core business and ensure they align to local Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership Strategies.
Alongside this, the team are responsible for:
- Policy development
- Co-ordinating community safety activity across all services
- Managing monitoring and evaluating the community safety budget in line with key priorities
- Leading the Domestic Abuse and Victim Support Thematic Partnership
- Maintaining the Community Safety Website
- Play a pivotal role in support the Safer and Stronger Communities Board
- Play a pivotal role in the Safer and Stronger element of the Local Area Agreement, developing countywide community safety initiatives as well as performance managing this strategy
