How much funding is available?
The maximum level of grant to be awarded is £5,000 and a minimum set of £2,500.
Who can apply?
Applications are welcome from all community youth organisations to the Youth Small Grants Funding Programme to develop, initiate or strengthen and/or support new youth work.
Applications are encouraged from groups that meet the criteria, for projects that meet particular identified needs for young people aged 10-19, and for those aged 10-25 who have a disability.
What happens once we have received your application?
- The applications will be assessed by the Youth Small Grants Officer who may contact you to request any further information that is required.
- Notification is distributed to all Councillors of projects submitted within their electoral ward.
- Applications are assessed by a scoring panel consisting of Officers from the VSSU, Youth Commissioning Team and Young People from the community.
- Recommended applications are then submitted to a Cabinet Member who agrees the final decision with a report going to the CFAP Panel (Community Funding Advisory Panel) & Cabinet Sub Committee for information.
- There is a five day 'call in' period, when Councillors can question a decision after which all applicants will be sent a letter informing them of the panel's decision.
- Successful applicants will be visited by an officer who will draw up the initial monitoring contract and discuss agreed specific outcomes and outputs on which monitoring of the project will be based. Other requirements include the completion and submission of a minimum of two data capture sheets during the year with information of the young people taking part in the project and a Quality Assurance visit which will be undertaken during an activity in order to comply with Quality Assurance requirements.
- Once the monitoring contracts have been signed the money awarded will be paid into the organisations bank account.
- There will be one monitoring visit carried out towards the end of the project which will include the completion and submission of a financial breakdown for the expenditure of the grant (details of receipt and invoices etc) and a project evaluation which will enable consideration / determination as to whether a further year's 50% funding of the original grant (if required) is of merit.
- Officers may contact the organisation at anytime throughout the project to monitor progress if required.
Second Year Funding
If you have already received funding from this programme for the first year of your project, and you are looking for further funds for additional activity in the second year that takes forward the work already done, you may be eligible for up to 50% of the previous year's grant.
Further funding will be subject to satisfactory monitoring and to the organisation being able to raise the remaining 50%.
Please ensure that your final monitoring report is submitted to your monitoring officer as soon as possible
