Jackson (Duddington) 1536-1937, 1526 docs., ref. J(D)

The Jacksons were bakers in Duddington in the 1590s who gradually built up an estate and were granted arms in 1688. Hugh Jackson (d.1852), a younger son acquired an estate around Wisbech before inheriting Duddington.

Deeds and estate papers for properties in Duddington including rentals 1815-1829, 1850, 1914-1938 and inclosure deeds 1610-1617. Deeds for Bramfield, Wenhaston and Westhall (Suffolk), Wisbech St. Peter and Elm (Cambridgeshire), Walsoken and Walpole St. Peter (Norfolk). Manor court records for Wisbech, Walsoken and Sutton Holland (Lincolnshire) in an uncatalogued portion. Early/mid 20th century legal and financial papers, a few bills and personal account book 1815-1829. Corn Law pamphlets 1814-1815. Ximenes trust deeds and papers 1828-1843.

(Jackson scrapbooks and photograph albums are under the reference ZB 702 and include material on the O'Briens of Blatherwyck, the Johnsons of Witham (Lincolnshire) and World War One.)
