Why do we consult?

We want you, the people and communities of Northamptonshire, to have a say in decisions that affect your lives. Your views and ideas will influence our decisions.  We will be clear and open about what we can change.

We will :

  • Help you to give your views and ideas in ways that are easy for you;
  • Actively seek you out if you are potentially affected by decisions, including making particular efforts to reach you if you have not been involved before;
  • Provide you with the information you need to take part in a meaningful way;
  • Welcome and support your involvement in what we do;
  • Tell you how your input affected decisions.

The County Council doesn’t just want to inform you about what’s going on across the County, it wants to consult you, to involve you in planning, to collaborate with you in decisions and ultimately to give you more power to make things happen.

The County Council definitely wants you to 'have your say' and to get you involved as much as you want, helping us to make Your County an excellent place to live and work

The Council's plan for consulting and involving local people (will be available for download soon) sets out the council's approach so that you can be clear on what you can expect from us.
