Data Protection - Trust Charter

Northamptonshire County Council collects information to ensure our services are as effective and efficient as possible to a wide range of people.

Cookies and logging of IP addresses are used to enable NCC to monitor site traffic and repeat visitor statistics. These statistics will not include information that can be used to identify any individual. Such information is anonymous and held on a temporary basis (for more information about cookies, see Related Sections below).

Who sees my information?

Employees and agents of the county council or third parties who help provide the service to you.

Why do they need it?

Generally your information is needed to ensure the service is appropriate for you, to help fulfil statutory duties, and to enable us to carry out day to day operations, for example keeping in contact with you. Services will usually give you more details when they collect your information.

What will they do with it?

Your information will be used to:

  • provide the service to you
  • draw up statistical reports on the service to inform both the county council and government agencies
  • fulfil statutory duties
  • help us improve our service to you.

When will they delete it?

Your information will be kept only for as long as necessary to provide the service to you and ensure reports can be issued for government or county council purposes.

How do you safeguard my information?

All employees have to abide by Data Protection law and there is strict control over access to personal data, eg. a secure computer server.
