Ethical framework and the conduct of councillors

As a council, we are committed to ensuring that our elected members (councillors) and our staff show good standards of ethical behaviour at all times.

Staff are expected to work to an agreed code of conduct.

Councillors and co-opted members are expected to follow clear rules as outlined in the Local Government Act 2000. This act also provides a way of enforcing ethical standards with the use of a code of conduct and Standards Committee.
