What is the ‘Connect2northamptonshire’ project?
Whether we like it or not, the Internet (or ‘the Web’, as its sometimes called) now touches almost every part of our lives. Shopping, government services, cheap flights and holidays, keeping in touch with friends, our work, even our love lives – the way we do and use all of these things is changing because of the Internet. What’s more, the increasing availability, sophistication and cheapness of using the Internet means that this trend is set to dramatically increase over the next few years.
The ‘Connect2northamptonshire’ project builds upon these trends to improve the lives of ordinary people in Northamptonshire. The project achieves this aim by bringing together a diverse range of information and services in a single place on the Internet – the Connect2 Community Portal
This web site brings together services offered by public bodies, business, the leisure industry and the voluntary sector into a single, easy to access web site.
How can my organisation benefit from this?
Your organisation, no matter how big or small, can be part of this rich and vibrant community information resource. This is because the ‘Connect2northamptonshire’ project supports organisations like yours in creating and maintaining their own, personal web sites within the larger connect2northamptonshire site. Using simple to use but powerful web publishing tools, you can promote your organisation in Northamptonshire’s leading on-line community.
What does it cost?
There is no charge, all you need is the time and resources to create and maintain your very own website.

Funding
The core funding for the project was provided by Implementing Electronic Government (IEG) partnership funding from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM). This funding comprises £600,000 over the 2001/2002 and 2003/2004 financial years.
The funding was awarded following a successful bid for IEG partnership funding submitted by the Northamptonshire eGovernment forum (aka 'The Connect Group') in January 2002.
