The Northamptonshire Waste Partnership is pleased to announce that the public consultation on its Draft Municipal Waste Management Strategy has ended.
Thank you to everyone who contributed their views. The results of the consultation will be released spring 2008.
What is the Northamptonshire Waste Management Strategy?
It is a plan to show how councils in Northamptonshire will manage the collection and treatment of municipal waste in the future – waste generated by households and some local businesses.
The strategy has been prepared by the Northamptonshire Waste Partnership, made up of Corby Borough Council, Daventry District Council, East Northamptonshire Council, Kettering Borough Council, Northampton Borough Council, Northamptonshire County Council, South Northamptonshire Council and the Borough Council of Wellingborough.
We are planning ahead for the collection and management of waste up to 2020 and beyond. The plans set out what we want to achieve and identify the types of services and technologies we will need to use to reach our goals.

Draft Northamptonshire Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy
Answers the questions ‘Where Are We Now?’, Where Do We Want To Get To’ and ‘How Are We Going To Get There?’. Contains the Partnership’s Vision for managing waste in Northamptonshire, Principles, Policies and Response to the Landfill Allowances Trading Scheme.
Draft Action Plan
Sets out a timetable of actions proposed in order to deliver the Draft Strategy
Baseline Report
Establishes the baseline point for the Strategy by summarising performance from 2001/02 to 2004/05 and the services provided by the Northamptonshire Authorities. An addendum to the baseline review provides an update on key changes since the publication of the baseline
How This Strategy Was Produced
Summarises the approach and details the steps involved in the development of the Draft Strategy to date as well as what will happen following the consultation.
Community Panel Report
Provides an account of the establishment and operation of a Community Panel which developed criteria used in the consideration of different options in the Strategy
Draft Environmental Report
Produced as part of the requirement for a Strategic Environmental Appraisal of the Draft Strategy. This detailed report assesses the policies within the strategy and then different options at each tier of the waste management hierarchy against specific criteria. Mitigation measures and monitoring arrangements are also proposed. A non technical summary provides a summary of the whole document. For ease of download the document has been split as follows:
