Physical Health provide a number of specialist services including a service for people with HIV/Aids
The HIV/Sexual Health Team has recently forged joint alliances with Northampton PCT, the voluntary sector and service users to formulate a single multi-disciplinary team for the county. Based in Northampton, this team offers a model of good practice and cooperative working partnerships based on the national Sexual Health Strategy.
In addition to discreet projects and direct client work the team works at a strategic level to inform the local Sexual Health Strategy, both directly and via the HIV Sub Group which has been meeting for over 3 years.
The Team consists of:
- The Principal Officer for HIV and Sexual Health, NCC
- The HIV Officer who provides direct Social Care, training and resource development, NCC
- The African Community Development and Support Worker, NCC (supported by Northampton PCT
- The Manager of ‘Positive in Northamptonshire’, (PIN) – our local voluntary HIV organisation
- Training and Volunteer Coordinator, (PIN)
- 3 PIN Client support workers
- Service user input
- PIN Administrator
- GUM Health adviser and Senior Nurse Specialist
We liaise regularly with HIV Clinical Services, which is our main point of client referral.
