The Supporting People programme started on 1st April 2003. It is changing the way that sheltered housing and supported housing services are funded.
General information about Supporting People
You can download a short leaflet that gives brief information about the Supporting People programme here.
How to get involved
You can get involved in the Supporting People programme in a number of ways, and have your say about the services you receive:
- You could help us develop our plans and strategies. Sometimes this is done through meetings and forums, or other consultation, specifically about Supporting People. On other occasions, this is through groups and forums that consider wider ranges of services. For example, if you are an older person, you might wish to join the Active Ageing Network (see Related Page link below).
- You could be involved in specific projects, such as joining a panel to select providers for a service
- You can let us know what you think of the particular service you receive. You can contact the Supporting People team directly (our contact details are on the right hand side of this webpage). Alternatively, the team reviews these services on a regular basis, and will always ask service users what they think.
- Your service provider should have clear ways in which you can let them know how well they are supporting you, and clear ways in which you can get involved with your service provider in helping them improve those services.
What Support Services are available?
To find out what type of services are available in either your current or preferred area (both locally and nationally) please visit the Department of Communities & Local Government website (see Related Links below under 'Supporting People Directory of Services').
