One key target for the Service is to widen participation and to ensure that people from disadvantaged groups have both the opportunity to participate fully in society and to enjoy life to the full.
To achieve this, we work with the following partners:
Internal:
- Physical Disabilities Service
- Learning Disabilities Service
External:
- Northamptonshire Healthcare Trust
- The Learning and Skills Council (LSC), which commissions the work and provides most of the funding for this work
- Primary Care Trusts
- Local Strategic Partnerships
- OfSTED
Our work contributes to key Strategic Goals of the County Council:
- Helping people to live independent lives
- Developing safer and stronger communities
Adult learning plays a key role in terms of the quality of life of individuals and supports community regeneration. Areas of work such as ‘first steps’ learning, recreational and well-being courses, many of which encompass basic skills, are very significant in terms of allowing people to:
- Participate fully in society
- Progress into opportunities for more formal learning and/or to employment.
To ensure that people who use Adult Learning Services will be satisfied with the quality of service they receive we undertake an annual Customer Satisfaction check.
