From babies to adults, all ages are catered for by Northamptonshire Music & Performing Arts Service. With 400 staff working across the week to provide instrumental lessons in school on brass, woodwind, guitars, keyboards, upper and lower strings, percussion, singing, drama and dance, or Saturday morning activities at one of our 15 regional Music & Performing Arts Centres there is a wealth of talent being shared across the county.
Opportunities are available for the very young to enjoy music and drama activities with early years groups running at the Northampton Music & Performing Arts Centre and some of the Saturday morning Performing Arts Centres. As well as offering lessons in school, individual tuition is offered for students and adults alike on all orchestral instruments, singing and drama. Drama is also offered for all ages as group lessons.
Northamptonshire Music & Performing Arts Service manages a number of county level groups, with three symphony orchestras, two string orchestras, three brass bands, three concert bands, five choirs, three jazz bands, two percussion ensembles, three guitar ensembles, string quartets, a number of other wind ensembles and a youth theatre.
All members must audition for their place in July each year and auditions are open to school-aged students, places in county groups are offered for the full academic year. Extra-curricula activity offered includes an international tour each year, residential courses held at Grendon Hall and regular concerts held in venues across the county.
