If your child:
- will be 4 between 1st September 2008 and 31st August 2009
- is currently in the final year at an Infant School (Year 2) and due to transfer to Junior School in September 2009
- is currently in the final year of a Lower School (Year 4) and due to transfer to Middle School in September 2009
You must apply to the county council for a primary school place by 21st November 2008.
There are two ways to apply:
Reception Applications
Copies of 'Applying for a Primary School Place in Northamptonshire 2009/2010' Information for Parents Booklet and paper preference forms can be collected from any primary school within the county from 22nd September 2008 onwards. Parents may like to give their details to a school beforehand. Please note however, that this does not guarantee a place at the school and it is the parent's responsibility to ensure an application is completed. The booklet can also be downloaded from the link below. Before you apply please ensure that you have read the booklet carefully.
Junior or Middle School Applications
If your child currently attends a Northamptonshire Infant or Lower School you will receive a copy of the “Applying for a Primary School Place in Northamptonshire 2009/2010 Information for Parents” booklet and a preference form during September. Booklets and forms may also be request from the Admissions Team or the booklet can be downloaded using the link below.

Please bear in mind that some schools require you to fill in a separate form as well as the County Council preference form, if you have listed them amongst your preferences.
Please note that following a national scrutiny of admission policies that was completed after the Information for Parents booklet went to press, there have been a few technical amendments to the wording of some of the policies. For further information on individual schools please visit the Online Schools Directory where you can view Ofsted Reports, DCSF performance data and the final version of the admission criteria.

Please Note:
Siblings of pupils already attending a school or children in a nursery attached to a school do not have an automatic right to a place; you must apply for a place for your child.
If your child has a Statement of Special Educational Needs you should not apply using the preference form but refer to the guidance given in the section about children with special needs. However if your child is undergoing a statutory assessment and does not yet have a statement you will need to complete a preference form.
Offer letters will be posted by the Admissions Teams on 1st April 2009 by first class post.
