All Northamptonshire schools provide educational support to children with a wide range of learning difficulties. All schools are also aware of the particular needs of the very able.
Wherever possible, schools will try to accommodate children who have difficulties with mobility. We advise parents to discuss their children’s special educational needs with a member of staff at their preferred secondary school.
If your child has a statement of special educational needs, you will receive a letter from the Children and Young People’s Service (CYPS)/Inclusion local office, seeking details of your school preference. You will be asked to return your preference by 5th November 2008 and consultation will then follow with the school of your preference. You will be informed of the outcome of this consultation by 15th February 2009. Any appeals should be made to SENDIST (Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal).
If your child is under assessment for a statement of special educational needs you will still need to complete a preference form or apply online.
