The Instrumental Service seeks to enhance the musical experiences available to pupils through instrumental and vocal tuition.
As well as focusing on the individual, instrumental and vocal tuition provides the opportunity of a wider musical experience through participation ensembles, bands, orchestras and choirs.
The Instrumental Service offers groups and individual tuition in schools on the following instruments:
- Brass (trumpet, cornet, trombone, horn, euphonium, tuba)
- Guitar (acoustic and electric)
- Keyboard
- Percussion and kit
- Piano
- Singing
- Strings (violin, viola, cello and bass)
- Woodwind (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and saxophone)
The service offers individual or group tuition to both primary and secondary schools.
What the service does
Helps raise the musical attainment of pupils.
Supports pupil to acquire skills which will allow them to enjoy and become actively involved in a wide range of musical experiences, contributing to the musical life of the school or community.
Promotes pupil's understanding of music in the everyday life of their own and other cultures.
Enables pupils to realise their musical potential through the playing of a musical instrument or through use of their voice.
Encourages self confidence and the development of a sense of personal achievement and self expression in pupils.
Supports student's understanding and teacher's delivery of the national curriculum of music.
The service offers access to the free loan of orchestral and band instruments and music library (subject to certain conditions) where tuition is provided by County Music Service teachers.
