We can provide training for planning safe and educationally beneficial off-site visits. The courses are designed to deliver this training in a very practical way and will inform on the requirements of the law. They will help to encourage out of classroom learning and to give confidence to those who may have concerns about safety issues.
We can provide off site visit leader training for:
- Recently qualified teachers / leaders / teachers in initial teacher training
- School / unit support staff
- Teachers / leaders without experience of running off-site visits who
may wish to do so in the future
Three different courses are currently provided by the County Outdoor Education Adviser.
- Educational Visits Co-ordinator training (1 day)
- Educational Visits Co-ordinator Re-validation (0.5 day)
- Off-Site Visit Leader Training (1 day)
We currently have the above courses arranged for the following dates:
EVC: FULL TRAINING COURSE
Date: Monday 1st December 2008
Time: 9am – 4pm
Venue: Knuston Hall
Cost: £100 per person
For people requiring re-validation training, you will be contacted shortly with further information on course dates.

Have you been appointed as EVC for your school? Advertising for an EVC post? Make sure you add the following to the job description:
Educational Visits Co-ordinator, the post holder will:
- Fulfil the duties of Educational Visits Co-ordinator (EVC) as outlined by:
the DfES, in it’s document “Health and Safety of Pupils on Educational Visits” and it’s Supplements.
- The LA, in it’s policy and guidance for Off-site Visits.
- Maintain his/her EVC qualifications and will be aware of requirements, changes and developments to current legislation and policy.
- Inform the Head, Governors and Staff at the school/unit of requirements and relevant changes to ensure that all off-site visits are properly planned and conducted.
