Northamptonshire Healthy Schools Programme

The Northamptonshire Healthy Schools Programme is a partnership project supported and delivered by: Daventry & South Northants Primary Care Trust, Northampton Primary Care Trust, Northamptonshire Heartlands Primary Care Trust & Northamptonshire County Council – Children and Young People’s Service

The Northamptonshire Healthy Schools Programme provides a structured and supportive approach for schools to achieve National Healthy Schools Status.

Schools interested in gaining National Healthy Schools Status should contact the Northamptonshire Healthy Schools Team to arrange a visit from one of the Healthy Schools Advisors.

The Northamptonshire Healthy Schools Team supports schools in achieving National Healthy Schools Status by Providing:

  • Tools to audit strengths and areas for development against the four core Healthy Schools Themes.
  • A web-based pupil survey tool to gauge pupil opinion on a range of areas related to the four core Healthy Schools Themes (hosted here for Northamptonshire Healthy Schools Programme, see link below).
  • An individually tailored Action Plan developed in consultation with the school.
  • Support, advice and signposting to enable schools to complete targets set out on School Action Plan.
  • Advice and support on Evidencing Healthy Schools 4 core themes.
  • An application/assessment procedure for gaining National Healthy Schools Status.

The Northamptonshire Healthy Schools Programme also plays a vital role in validating school achievement of National Healthy Schools Status and in celebrating this achievement.

They will also encourage the dissemination and sharing of healthy schools practice between schools.
