The Northamptonshire Healthy Schools Programme is a partnership project supported and delivered by: Daventry & South Northants Primary Care Trust, Northampton Primary Care Trust, Northamptonshire Heartlands Primary Care Trust & Northamptonshire County Council – Children and Young People’s Service
The Northamptonshire Healthy Schools Programme provides a structured and supportive approach for schools to achieve National Healthy Schools Status.
Schools interested in gaining National Healthy Schools Status should contact the Northamptonshire Healthy Schools Team to arrange a visit from one of the Healthy Schools Advisors.
The Northamptonshire Healthy Schools Team supports schools in achieving National Healthy Schools Status by Providing:
- Tools to audit strengths and areas for development against the four core Healthy Schools Themes.
- A web-based pupil survey tool to gauge pupil opinion on a range of areas related to the four core Healthy Schools Themes (hosted here for Northamptonshire Healthy Schools Programme, see link below).
- An individually tailored Action Plan developed in consultation with the school.
- Support, advice and signposting to enable schools to complete targets set out on School Action Plan.
- Advice and support on Evidencing Healthy Schools 4 core themes.
- An application/assessment procedure for gaining National Healthy Schools Status.
The Northamptonshire Healthy Schools Programme also plays a vital role in validating school achievement of National Healthy Schools Status and in celebrating this achievement.
They will also encourage the dissemination and sharing of healthy schools practice between schools.
