Northamptonshire’s School Improvement strategy is based upon the core guidance of the DfES ‘Local Education Authority – School Relations Code of Practice’ (2002) and ‘Schools Causing Concern’ (2005). The following document is the updated version September 2006.
This guidance links with the Local Authority's School Improvement Policy dated September 2006 (as above). Appendix 2, Section 5 of this policy outlines the Local Authority's statutory powers of intervention, including the establishment of an Interim Executive Board, under the DfES Guidance 2005 and Education and Inspection Act 2006.
