Asset Management Plans

Asset Management Plan initiative was introduced by the DfES (now DCSF) in 1999 with an aim to facilitate this process and provide a robust, objective and transparent method of prioritising the schools building needs, both nationally and locally.

AMPs are prepared and maintained by LAs, in consultation with schools and other stakeholders and they contain detailed information on condition, suitability and capacity of school premises, as well as the local spending priorities and strategic objectives.

AMP process influences the national and local funding allocations for school buildings and informs spending priorities at LA and school level. The two main documents which underpin development and implementation of Asset Management Plans for Northamptonshire schools are:

These documents were produced in co-operation with all stakeholders and with the assistance of ‘AMP Consultative Group’ which consists of headteachers, governors and diocesan board representatives.

Further guidance on AMP process and the assessment criteria can be found on the DCFS website – see related links below.

Individual school AMP information and staff / governor induction training can be obtained by using the contact details on the right.
