Bronze Volunteering section Course - Animal Welfare
There have been only five applications up to 31st October. The start of the courses will have to be delayed; please contact the D of E office for more information.
This Volunteering* opportunity is held at Moulton College just to the north of Northampton one evening a week for 12 weeks, starting at 5:30pm. We are now taking names for the next courses. If you are interested in taking part you must contact Anne Powell on 01933 666833 or email: apowell@northamptonshire.gov.uk as soon as possible, please.
As this is a college course, there will be a charge for this course, based on numbers attending - help with costs might be available.
For health and safety reasons, numbers are limited to 12 participants for each course. If there are more applications than places, another course will run on a day to be confirmed, also starting at 5:30pm.

Expedition Assessor Accreditation Training
We are taking names for the next course to be held over two evenings at Grendon Hall: Tuesday 27th January and Tuesday 3rd February 2009 from 6:30pm - 9:30pm.
This course is for all D of E leaders who wish to continue to assess expeditions at Bronze, Silver or Gold level. Once delegates have completed the course and carried out their supported assessment they will become nationally accredited.
There are pre-requirements for attendance. Places are limited, the course will cost £30 and will include all resources and light refreshments. Please contact Anne Powell for details: telephone 01933 666833 or e-mail apowell@northamptonshire.gov.uk as soon as possible.
BELA Training Courses
There will be a BEL Award course at Grendon Hall starting in January 2009.
The dates are: 23/24/25 January 2009, 6:00pm start on Friday evening; 13/14/15/16 February, 6:00pm start on Friday evening; 7/8 March 2009.
Not all the weekends will involve an overnight stay. Course cost: £295; funding will be available for Northants registered leaders. Terms and conditions apply.

There will be a BELA course starting at Everdon Activities Centre on Thursday 8th January 2009. Please contact the Centre Manager/Course Director on 01327 361384 for more details.
The next course at Tresham Institute is planned for:
14/15 March, 28/29 March, 18/19 April and 9/10 May 2009.

Sports Leadership courses for young people
Sports Leadership Awards are an effective stepping-stone into the field of sports leadership, are nationally recognised qualifications, and with additional community hours count towards the Volunteering section of the D of E.

Training Courses for Leaders and Participants at Longtown Outdoor Education Centre in Herefordshire
Longtown OEC is situated on the edge of the Brecon Beacons. There is a full range of courses including: mountain walking, gorge walking, canoeing, rock climbing and caving. There is an extensive range of training and assessment courses for leaders including Mountain Leader and Walking Group Leader qualifications.
There is Gold and Silver level expedition training and assessment courses for D of E participants for foot and boat-based ventures.
