Routes for Undergraduates

Undergraduates

On the undergraduate route into teaching, you study for a degree and train at the same time. The minimum requirement is 2 A-levels.  For further information go to the UCAS or University of Northampton websites which are listed in the related links section below.

Bachelor of Education [BEd]

The BEd is a degree in education. You complete your teacher training during the course and gain Qualified Teacher Status [QTS] on graduation. This is usually undertaken over 2, 3 or 4 years [full time] or 5 years [part time].

BA or BSc with Qualified Teacher Status

This is where a main degree subject is combined with training. On graduation you receive a BSc or BA with QTS. Study is usually over 3 or 4 years [full time] or up to 5 years [part time]. You will have between 24 and 32 weeks in school placements.
