Chatterbooks - Information for Parents

What is Chatterbooks?

Chatterbooks is a nationally organised network of reading groups for children sponsored by Orange.

Why a Reading Group?

It gives children new ideas for reading. It develops children's confidence in reading a variety of books and in talking about books in a group. It provides extra reading time for children. It's fun!

How will Chatterbooks support my child's education?

Chatterbooks provides an opportunity for libraries to support children's learning and help develop a skill and a love for books which will last their whole lifetime. It supports literacy and gives children that extra time to develop reading, writing, listening, computer and social skills. It provides children with a chance to develop and express their own opinions.

What will the reading group involve?

Children will receive a free reading group goody pack. Each meeting will focus on a theme and involve discussion of books, activities and computers.
