Family Learning Festival and the Big Picture Party: October 2008 |
Northamptonshire libraries have always celebrated Family Learning Week and this year it has evolved into an even bigger event which will include the Big Picture Party taking place throughout the whole of October. This is a month long extravaganza, initiated by Booktrust and the Campaign for Learning and aims to celebrate picture books and encourage family learning through drawing.
All libraries in Northamptonshire will be offering a range of activities which are aimed at encouraging families to talk about their favourite picture books, what makes an illustration so attractive and to even have a go at drawing some themselves.
Learning Resources for Education, the schools library service, will be promoting the event by encouraging all schools to borrow 10 extra picture books during October. In addition, there will be a display at LRE promoting Bookstart’s best illustrators. Schools can find out more information on the LRE activities by ringing 01604 773930.
