It’s that time of year again. Be inspired by H.E. Bates, Northamptonshire-born master of short stories, and write us a short story on the subject of your choice. The competition is open to all writers and entries must be no longer than 2,000 words in length. The entry fee is £3.00 for each story submitted and entrants are invited to submit as many stories as they wish.
Prizes:
- 1st Prize: £200
- 2nd Prize: £150
- 3rd Prize: £100
- In addition, a prize of £50 will be awarded to the best story by a writer who is under 18 years old on the closing date for entries. The entry fee for stories in this category is waived.
- New for 2008 - a special £100 prize for the best story written by a Northamptonshire writer (not awarded if the story has already won 1st, 2nd, or 3rd prize).
The closing date for entries is Monday 6th October 2008. Prizes will be awarded at a prize giving ceremony at Northampton Central Library at 7.30pm on 27th November 2008.
