Northamptonshire Libraries and Information Service provides a range of services in libraries helping people who want to improve their personal wellbeing, for example:
- Books and other items on a huge range of subjects - pop in to your library and have a browse, ask a member of staff or try searching the online Library catalogue (see Related Links below) to find out what's in stock.
- The e-Library with links to information websites such as the Northamptonshire Health Gateway (for NHS and local services) and sites providing patient information.
- Health trainers based in libraries for consultations and trained to support people with health and wellbeing issues and concerns.
- The Read Yourself Well scheme making self-help books easily available to everyone who has concerns regarding health issues and through GP referrals. For more information about the scheme please use the link on the right hand side of this page.
- Read Yourself Well workers encouraging clients to get involved in reading as a way of helping their mental health issues.
- Staff trained to handle enquiries sensitively.
- Self service (available in several libraries) - providing extra privacy when checking books in and out.
