The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go." — Dr. Seuss, "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!"
The National Year of Reading (NYR):
- Is a year-long celebration of reading, in all its forms
- It aims to help build a greater national passion for reading in England – for children, families and adult learners alike
- Will remind everyone that reading, of all kinds, is essential for daily life
- It frees you, fuels ambition, opens doors, changes your world view and underpins your confidence in every area of life
- It is never too early to start the reading habit and never too late
- The Telling Tales campaign aims to encourage and inspire more parents to feel confident about reading aloud with their children. We are inviting all story enthusiasts (over 18) to enter the Telling Tales competition by uploading a clip of themselves reading their favourite story on the National Year of Reading website. Regional winners and the overall winner will stand in line to win some exciting prizes. Visit the National Year of Reading website in Related Links below for more information.
