The Big Picture Party : A National Campaign to Promote Picture Books

LRE's Big Picture Display          Big Picture Party

The whole of October is to be focused nationally on the promotion and use of picture books, a campaign initiated by Booktrust and the Campaign for Learning and backed by many well known illustrators, with Children's Laureate Michael Rosen championing the campaign.

To celebrate the Big Picture, Learning Resources for Education are encouraging all fully subscribing schools to borrow an extra 10 picture books (while stocks last) which schools can then use in new and innovative ways with all age groups across the curriculum. To borrow the books give LRE a ring to book an appointment on 01604 773930 and during your time in the LRE showroom, why not take the opportunity to look at all the picture books linked to curriculum themes?

LRE Big Picture Competition

Schools are invited to share how they have used picture books by entering a competition and have the opportunity of winning an original Chris Riddell illustration. The runner up will receive a selection of brand new picture books. Ideas of good practice will then be included on LRE's website, Reading Really Matters.  For an entry form e-mail lre@northamptonshire.gov.uk
