Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Standards of Operational Response Review 2007

As part of Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Services process of continuous improvement, a full review of the current standards of fire cover being applied to Northamptonshire has been carried out. The document below forms part of the process in ensuring members of the community are fully consulted upon before being adopted as the new Standards of Operational Response, and as such welcome your comments on the proposed new standards enclosed.

This review has looked at the changing role of the modern fire service, taking account of changes in legislative requirements, but more importantly to ensure the people of Northamptonshire, and those who work or travel through it receive the quality of service expected.

The aim of this review was to set a standard of response that not only dealt with responding to emergency incidents, but to ensure proactive work to reduce risk was captured along with how performance will be monitored and where possible improved.

These proposed new standards of operational response not only present significant improvements in managing risk to the community but are designed to provide the flexibility for the service to manage change through improvements in operational procedures, new technology and risk intelligence, while at the same time actively working with partners to continually improve community safety.

The Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service Draft Standards of Operational Response was accepted for public consultation by the Northamptonshire County Council’s cabinet meeting on Tuesday 11th December 2007.

The consultation period runs from 11th December 2007 through to 3rd March 2008.
