Flood water entering your home or property will ruin carpets, furniture, household items, toys, decor, electrical items and items with sentimental value which cannot be replaced.
The property will be contaminated with dirty water, which is often mixed with sewage and mud. The clean up operation will be hard work and once the water has receded the property will need to dry out days or even weeks.
The cost and effort or repairing a property will be time consuming and stressful. It is better to undertake actions to reduce the damage a flood could inflict on your home or property before a flood occurs.
The most important action you can do is to ensure that you have adequate insurance cover. If you are fully insured there should be no problem in getting the necessary repairs paid for, but the whole process will probably take months and the experience is unpleasant.
Those without insurance cover may suffer financially in the recovery from the effects of flooding.
