Introduction
Northamptonshire County Council has secured £5.72m for Sandy Lane Improvement North from the Government's Community Infrastructure Fund (CIF).
Our proposals will provide a high quality road with pedestrian and cycle facilities from the A428 Harlestone Road to the Nobottle Road / Berrywood Road junction. It will link to the proposed Sandy Lane Relief Road to complete the improvements to Sandy Lane from the A428 Harlestone Road to the A4500 Weedon Road.
Plan 1 shows the site location and can be found on Board 1 which also gives general information highlighting the problem and benefits of the proposed scheme.
Board 2 provides an aerial photograph and explains the route.
What will the new road look like?
The new road will be a single carriageway link road between the A428 Harlestone Road and Nobottle Road and has eight key elements which are shown on Plan 2. Plan 2 can be found on Board 3 below.
The eight key elements are
- Plan 1 - Harlestone Road Roundabout
- Plan 2 - The road design north of Weggs Farm Road
- Plan 3 - The diversion of public footpath CU27
- Plan 4 - Port Road Bridge
- Plan 5 - Balancing Pond
- Plan 6 - Weggs Farm Road Junction
- Plan 7 - The Road design south of Weggs Farm Road
- Plan 8 - Berrywood Road / Nobottle Road Roundabouts

Environmental Features and Landscaping
Initial surveys have been undertaken to assess site conditions. This took into account:
- Ecology
- Storm Water Management
- Watercourses
- Rights of Way
- Archaeology and Heritage
- Noise and Air Quality
- Landscaping
The Sandy Lane Improvement North will be designed to take these into account and to ensure the scheme's impact upon the environment and local community will be minimised.

Plans 11, 12, 13 and 14 provides details relating to the landscaping and can be found on Board 8.
