We now provide a faster and easier way for you to find out about planned highway schemes within Northamptonshire.
You can search for information about highway schemes in your area so that you can plan your journey and find out exactly what work is currently being carried out or planned in the near future.
An updated user guide can be viewed and downloaded following the link below. It provides step by step instructions that will show you how to display the information you require. It also includes a key to the map symbols displayed as well as instructions on how to search by a particular street, postcode or town/village.
Each work category is represented on the map by a different symbol. By clicking on a scheme symbol, you will display the type of work that is scheduled to be carried out at that location, the anticipated start date, progress of the work and relevant contact details for both Northamptonshire County Council and our service provider, MGWSP.
There are ten different work categories for which the County Council is responsible:
- Carriageways (Roads)
- Cycleways
- Drainage
- Footways / Footpaths
- Miscellaneous Improvements (Entrance Realignments, Parking Bays etc)
- Public Transport (Bus Stop Improvements)
- Safer Routes to Schools
- Street Lighting
- Structures (Bridges, Retaining Walls, Large Culverts etc)
- Traffic Management (Signs, Signals, Road Markings etc)
Please note:
- The scheme layer in the Interactive Mapping is a record of schemes proposed by the County Council in partnership with MGWSP.
- It will not display day to day, routine maintenance works such as grass cutting, pothole repairs etc.
- It will not show works carried out by private companies such as gas, electricity, water and telecommunications utilities or developers.
- All works carried out on trunk roads (A5, A14, A43 south of M1 and A45 east of M1) and motorways (M1 and M45) in Northamptonshire are looked after by the Highways Agency (see related links below)
- For information on road works being undertaken by utility companies including gas, electricity, water, telephone and cable, please tick the box next to Street Works below the schemes layer of Interactive Mapping
- The information displayed should not be relied upon to conduct private searches.
