Fostering or adopting a child or young person can be an extremely rewarding experience. It can be a challenging experience which requires skills, commitment, patience and a sense of humour.
We need a variety of carers from different backgrounds and experiences as we aim to place a child or young person where their individual needs can be best met.
We especially need more carers from black and minority ethnic backgrounds.
- Adoption
Adoption is a way of providing a new family for children who cannot be brought up by their own parents. It's a legal procedure in which all the parental responsibility is transferred to the adopters.
- Fostering
Fostering is a way of providing a family life for children who cannot live with their own parents. It is often used to provide temporary care while parents get help sorting out problems, take a break, or to help children or young people through a difficult period in their lives.
- Family Link
Provides short breaks to disabled children with carers in the community.
