The local authority has a duty to advise, assist, and support young people who meet the criteria for leaving care.
If a young person is in care at the age of 16, having been ‘looked after’ by the local authority for 13 weeks or more since the age of 14, then entitlement to leaving care services are met.
The leaving care team serves young people throughout the County between the ages of 16 and 21, and up to the age of 24 if they are in full time education.
