The following are some of the most useful websites but do tell us of any others you know

  • Anna Freud Centre  is a children's charity with a longstanding and multifaceted commitment to the emotional well-being of children. The Centre provides help for parents experiencing difficulty with their infants and toddlers. There are activities for young people ages 14-18 and uniquely those with kidney disease. Therapy is also offered for specialist one-to-one help.
  • Dundee University has established a new Centre to provide training for professionals in the use of video feedback for self-reflection and to enhance interaction between people.
  • The Joseph Rowntree Foundation is one of the largest social policy research and development charities in the UK , which conducts research and development programmes that seek better to understand the causes of social difficulties and explore ways of overcoming them. Their website provides a range of recent research papers, related publications and new areas of development including: Guide to Promising Approaches -second edition.
  • The National Foundation for Educational Research is a non-profit organisation focused on  improving education and training, nationally and internationally, by undertaking research, development and dissemination activities and by providing information services.

  • The Tavistock Institute of Human Relations, is a novel, interdisciplinary, action orientated research organisation. They conduct research, consultancy, evaluation and professional development work to support change and learning.
  • Young Minds is the national charity committed to improving the mental health of all children and young people.
  • The Pen Green Centre has been working in partnership with parents for 25 years. Children and families are central to everything they do, from the work within a children’s centre to the professional development provided through a research base. By developing practitioner research within a children’s centre setting, and through training offered to both practitioners and parents they are able to help Pen Green and other children’s centres to constantly reflect on and review their practice.

It is common for charity web pages to include links to publications, training materials and specialist information. Further examples of these include (but is certainly not limited to) Barnardos, National Childminding Association, NCH, NSPCC.

However, for a growing list of voluntary, independent and statutory sector services in this county, please visit the Northamptonshire Service Directory where you can find more information on a range of services and activities for children and young people aged 0 -20 years across Northamptonshire.
