We are able to offer digital images of many documents in our care.
Digital copies will be produced using an overhead Mamiya camera and integral document rest and book cradle. This allows documents not suitable for photocopying to be safely copied.
Each item will be assessed individually as to it’s suitability for digital copying. Fragile items, tightly bound volumes, pinned or tied together documents may be unsuitable for copying. Whilst every effort will be made to provide copies to the highest possible standards, text may not always be legible and distortion or shadowing may occur on rolled or folded items.
Very large maps will need to be photographed in a commercial studio and a handling charge of £25 will be added to the commercial cost to cover the staff time required to accompany the documents to the studio.
All digital copies will be supplied in jpeg format on a CD that will be posted to you. Images will not be emailed from the County Council and prints will not routinely be supplied.
