We hold over 800 years of Northamptonshire's archival heritage in our purpose built repositories. These records cover all aspects of Northamptonshire's rich history and can be viewed at the Record Office free of charge.

Some of the records we hold

The links below provide more information about some of the types of records we hold. There are, however, many more types of records, so please do contact us if what you are looking for is not on the list and we will do our best to help you.

St Crispin's Hospital Archive

One collection that is of interest to both family historians and those interested in social history, is the St Crispin's Hospital archive.

The hospital we know today as ‘St Crispin’s’ was opened at Berrywood, near Duston, in 1876 with 61 male and 54 female patients. By 1940 the hospital had grown in size, and was able to accommodate 1,066 patients.

The St Crispin's Hospital archive is held at the Record Office and is available to the public, though access is restricted to medical records less than 100 years old.
