Map showing the location of the Record Office
Arriving by car
We suggest that you use the AA Route Planner website which can give you directions from your home to the Record Office, if you put in the relevant postcodes. The Record Office's postcode is NN4 8BQ.
When you turn onto Mere Way, which is the final instruction given on the AA website, please use the location map above, with the directions below for the final part of the journey.
- After about 50 yards or so, turn left into Wootton Hall Park.
- Turn right into a small road shortly after the ambulance station.
- There is a small sign on the corner for the Fire Station, Record Office and Archaeology.
- The record office car park is the second one on the left.
- From the car park, come through the gate and down the path between the two blocks of the building towards the front door.
- There is an entry phone on the wall to your left.
Arriving by bus
- Buses run regularly from the bus station in the centre of town.
- The nearest bus stop to the Record Office is just after the Queen Eleanor Cross on the London Rd.
- The walk from there will take around five minutes, but you should be aware that the route takes you over the busy dual carriageway (A45 - Mereway).
- This can be extremely busy at certain times of the day, and unfortunately there is no pelican/zebra crossing.
Arriving by train
- Northampton station is approximately 3 miles from the Record Office.
- There is no bus directly from the station to the Record Office, but you can get a bus from there to the bus station.
- Taxis are available at the station.
