Residents' Panel

What is the residents' panel?

The Residents' Panel is an opportunity to give your views to your local councils more regularly and directly – to have a greater say in influencing local decisions that matter.

If you enjoy giving your views, please think seriously about becoming a member of the panel.

  • The panel is made up of approximately 1750 local people who have volunteered to give their opinions on a range of issues/services affecting the local area.
  • Members are recruited to form a representative sample of the county's population in terms of background characteristics such as age, gender and ethnicity.

What do panel members do?

  • From time to time over the year, we ask panel members for their views on different important issues and topics relating to local public services and the future of Northamptonshire.
  • It's not just about filling in surveys, members are also invited to take part in activities such as focus groups and mystery shopping. It's up to members what activities they choose to take part in.
  • We also make sure that we can hear your views without taking up too much of your time.

Do members need to be users of a service or know about the council?

  • No. We just want people who live in the county.
  • No knowledge or understanding of the way services are run is required.

How do I find out more?
