Registering the Induction of NQTs
If you appoint an NQT on a permanent or temporary contract for at least one term, they need to be registered with us for Induction. Registration must be done before they can start Induction, ie before commencing employment with you.
Induction reporting to the GTC is now electronic and this means that acceptance of late registration is not possible, under any circumstances.
Registration will be confirmed to the school by a letter to the named mentor / Induction Tutor and a letter to the NQT registered.
Induction Funding and Charges
From April 2012 NQT funding has been mainstreamed, previously there was a targeted allocation of £400 per term per NQT as a contribution towards the cost of an NQT's induction.
NQTs in Academies and Independant schools are charged for providing the Appropriate Body statutory functions and for training associated with Induction functions. Please contact NQT@northamptonshire.gov.uk for charges and options.
NQT progress monitoring
Induction is monitored by lesson observations and regular meetings carried out by the Induction Tutor, the following documents should be used to support this.
Induction Tutors must submit three termly progress reports to the Induction team. The blank forms can be downloaded from the Department for Education website and must be completed and returned to the Induction coordinator by the deadline dates applicable to the relevant term, these are 30th November, 30th March and 30th June.

Golden Hello Claims
Teachers who have trained in certain shortage subjects, via PGCE routes, are eligible for a government funded Golden Hello following the completion of Induction, they have 12 months to make their claim. The procedures for claiming a Golden Hello are in the document below:
