7th February 2012
Due to a high volume of applications, workloads, and IT issues we are not able to process In Year applications during the week of 7th February.
Please do not telephone for an update during this period as we will not be in a position to process applications and this will prevent us from being able to prioritise work effectively.
Our customer service team will not be able to pass calls relating to In Year admissions directly to admissions officers unless your call is deemed urgent.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience.
Changing School
Changing school is a substantial change for a child. It can be unsettling and may affect the progress the child is making at school.
The Changing Schools within Northamptonshire booklet outlines some of the issues which may occur when requesting an alternative school for your child and offers some solutions and helpful contact details. The Admissions Team recommend that you read the booklet prior to applying for an alternative school place for your child.
To apply for an alternative school place
- Download and complete the following form:
- Take the completed form to the school your child currently attends for the head teacher (or head of year) to complete the school section on the form. Failure to do this may result in a delay in processing your application. Please contact the Admissions Team if you have any difficulties in completing this.
- Your application will, where possible, be processed close to the date the school place is required from. Once a school place has been offered the child should start attending the school within 10 school days.
- Northamptonshire County Council operate pupil placement panel meetings for all applications for secondary school places across the county, except in the Daventry and South area. Further information, including meeting dates, is available on the pupil placement panel page.
- Only one application can be made in any one academic year for any one school.
- If there is a significant change in the circumstances of either the school, parent or child a second application may be considered by the county council.
- If you consider there has been a significant change, in the first instance you must write to the Admissions Team with your reasons.
