Fair Access Protocol 2010 - 2011

Due to changes in the School Admissions Code, the new Fair Access Protocol policy is currently out for consultation.

The Education & Inspections Act 2006 introduced a requirement for each local authority to have in place an 'In Year Fair Access Protocol' by September 2007.

Fair access protocols exist to ensure that all schools in an area admit their fair share of children with challenging behaviour.  Therefore though parental preference will be followed in each case, local authorities must not require undersubscribed schools to admit a greater proportion of children with a recent history of challenging behaviour than other schools.
