Co-ordinated Schemes

A co-ordinated scheme establishes mechanisms for ensuring, as far as reasonably practical, that every parent of a child living within the local authority who has applied for a school place receives an offer of one, and only one, school place.

In Year Co-ordinated Scheme Admissions

This covers applications made during the academic year and applications for admission to age groups other than the normal year of entry (“in year applications”).

The School Admissions (Co-ordination of Admission Arrangements) Regulations 2007 require local authorities to have a scheme covering every maintained school (but not special schools) in its area.
