How to make a late application

You can apply for a secondary school place for September 2013 if your child has their 11th birthday between 1st September 2012 and 31st August 2013 (year 6 in a primary or junior school).

You can apply for an upper school place for September 2013 if your child has their 13th birthday between 1st September 2012 and 31st August 2012 (year 8 in a middle school).

You can apply below for a UTC (University Technical College) school place at either Daventry UTC or Silverstone UTC for September 2013 if your child is currently in year 9 and due to transfer up to year 10 in September 2013.

The deadline for applications was 31st October 2012 (5pm). Applications received after this date will be treated as late and processed from April 2013 onwards.

You can still make an application for secondary school, upper school or a UTC. To make a late application you can either:

• use the late application online form, or
• complete a paper application form. These can be requested by calling our Customer Service Team on 0300 126 1000.

How do I apply for a secondary school in another county?

The allocation of secondary school places is coordinated, meaning parents must apply to their home authority. Therefore, if you live in Northamptonshire you must apply to Northamptonshire County Council even if your preferred school is in another authority.

Equally, if you are not resident in Northamptonshire, you must apply through your home authority even if your preferred school is in Northamptonshire.

When will I find out where my child has been allocated if I make a late application?

Late applications are allocated on a monthly basis. The process begins on the following dates but can take up to 10 school days to complete. You will receive a letter to confirm if a place can be offered.
