The application process for transfer to secondary, upper and UTC schools in September 2014 closed on October 31st 2013 at 5pm.
Parents can make a late application following the process detailed below.
How to make a late application
You can make a late application for a secondary school place for September 2014 if your child has their 11th birthday between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014 (year 6 in a primary or junior school).
You can make a late application for an upper school place for September 2014 if your child has their 13th birthday between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014 (year 8 in a middle school).
You can make a late application for a UTC (University Technical College) school place at either Daventry UTC or Silverstone UTC for September 2014 if your child is currently in year 9 and due to transfer up to year 10 in September 2014.
Before you apply
For guidance on how to apply, we strongly recommend that you read this booklet (you can also find reference copies in schools or libraries). This details how the late application process works:
The late application process
Please read all the information carefully before you complete your application form.
Please note: If you choose to submit multiple applications the latest dated application will be accepted and processed, and previous applications will be treated as unsubmitted. If you have already received a school offer and choose to submit an additional application, the applicant will not be contacted if a place is available at one of the new preferred schools. This place will automatically be allocated and any original allocated place will be reallocated. Should you wish to withdraw an unprocessed application prior to a reallocation round, please email email@example.com to advise this, providing your child's full name, date of birth and details of the application you wish to withdraw.
How do I apply for a secondary school in another county?
The allocation of secondary school places is coordinated, meaning parents must apply to their home authority. Therefore, if you live in Northamptonshire you must apply to Northamptonshire County Council even if your preferred school is in another authority.
Equally, if you are not resident in Northamptonshire, you must apply through your home authority even if your preferred school is in Northamptonshire.
When will I find out where my child has been allocated if I make a late application?
Late applications are allocated on a monthly basis. Detailed information is available in the Applying for a Secondary School Place in Northamptonshire for September 2014 booklet. The process begins on the following dates but can take several weeks to complete. Once this is complete you will receive a letter to confirm if a place can be offered.
