What is a Link Governor?
The Link Governor is the link with the Learning, Skills & Education Team and has a particular responsibility for two way communication relating to the training and development of the governing body.
What does a Link Governor do?
The Link Governor should:
- Raise awareness of the training and support provided by the Learning, Skills & Education Team
- Make sure that Governor training and support is reviewed annually by the full governing body to ensure that future training needs are identified and training completed in accordance with those needs
- Organise customised in house whole governing body training and co-ordinate for the local cluster where appropriate
- Maintain appropriate records of governor training booked and undertaken, and copies of relevant resources used by the governing body
- Work with the Learning, Skills & Education Team to shape the future of governor training so that it accurately reflects what Governors need
- Work with the Headteacher/Chair on the induction of new governors, ensuring that they are effectively and quickly integrated into the team
