Brigstock

Brigstock cross 

 

Brigstock market was founded in the mid 15th century. The market shops would have lain immediately adjacent to the market cross, which dates to 1586.

The cross is still used on an annual basis for the crowning of the May Queen.
On traffic island, Hall Hill, at junction of Church Street and Mill Lane.

Please park with care in this busy village and exercise extreme caution regarding nearby traffic.

Irthlingborough

Irthlingborough cross

The preaching cross at Irthlingborough is thought to date to the 13th century.

The 13 foot long shaft is said to have been used as the standard "pole" for measurement of agricultural land in the open fields system of shared land from at least the 10th to early 19th centuries
On roundabout junction of Finedon Road, Station Road & High St – please exercise extreme caution if crossing the road to the monument. 

Please park in public car park opposite and ideally view from pavement.
