Gates and gateways in Northamptonshire

Marston Trussell The late 17th century wrought-iron carriage gates of Marston Trussell hall were originally made for the house of Sir Erasmus Norwich at Brampton Ash.

They were moved to the entrance of Marston Trussell Hall in the mid 1700s 

Marston Trussell Hall, Theddingworth Road, Narrow road, park with care.

Northampton Castle Postern Gate Originally a side entrance to the medieval castle, the Postern Gate was rebuilt on this site when Northampton castle was demolished in the 1870s to make way for the railway station. Near Northampton railway station, Black Lion Hill.

Please take care of adjoining busy road.

Overstone, Pytchley Gates Originally part of the entrance court of the now demolished Pytchley Hall, this classical stone gateway was moved to form part of an approach to Overstone Hall in 1843. On Sywell Road, half a mile west of Overstone village.
