The county council employs over 21,000 people and has a statutory responsibility to promote equality, both in the workplace and the wider community. Our goal is to ensure that our county is a vibrant and creative environment in which to live and work.
We are fully committed to eliminating discrimination and actively promoting equality of opportunity through our service delivery, policy development and employment practices.
We have made a commitment as a council to be an “Excellent” authority under the Equality Framework for Local Government. We are currently an “Achieving” authority and information will be added shortly about our plans for moving the council forward in this area.
